Fish out of water

The nearshore fishing is on fire.  There have been many big Cobia around that have been taken both sightcasting as well as chumming and bait fishing for them the past couple days. A lot of fish over the 60 pound mark!  The Spanish Mackeral fishing continues to get better, with some great reports from the boats and some along the surf.  We weighed one in yesterday that was 4lbs...it looked bigger than that for sure.  There are some nice small blues around to catch as well. Reaching up to that 24" range.  In the surf there have been some Cobia landed from the beach up in the Buxton area and there are still some nice Sea Mullet and some really nice Pompano around.  There was a 4 pounder caught the other day! There should still be a Big Drum or two around in some places, with that winding down the fish should be shifting into the sound to get ready to go spawn in a couple months.

Offshore yesterday was tough for everyone. They were challenging conditions with the Northerly wind and screaming current out there.  They guys managed to scrap out some catches of nice Dolphins. Hopefully today will be a better day. One things for sure the guys work their butts off to catch every fish they can!
