Fishing News on Hatteras Island

Surrounded by water and in close proximity to the Gulf Stream, Hatteras Island emanates a life rich in fish culture. Some islanders fish for a living, some islanders fish for fun, some islanders sell fish in their restaurants and some islanders prepare bountiful fish-rich meals for their families. One thing is for sure, the various Hatteras Island fisheries have an impact on those who are blessed to call this place their home and we love sharing them with our friends and neighbors. Inshore boats had nice catches of Speckled Trout and puppy Drum today. 

Offshore is still rough but a couple of boats managed to get out and caught a few Dolphin and released a Blue Marlin.

A couple of boats got offshore on Sunday and came back with nice catches of Wahoo and Triggerfish.

Inshore we saw puppy Drum, Speckled Trout, and some Bluefish.

Still only inshore boats on the water today due to weather. We did have an evening charter last night that got on some nice Red Drum.

Puppy Drum and Bluefish were the main catches of the day.

We only had a few inshore boats make it out today, again mostly due to weather. They had some nice Drum, Trout, and a Flounder release.

Still no boats offshore today with the high winds but we had a few inshore trips in the morning.

Red Drum limits and Speckled Trout were the catches of the day!

We didn’t have any boats go offshore today due to weather but did see some good activity inshore.

Speckled Trout, Bluefish, and large and keeper sized Red Drum were the main catches today.

Extremely rough conditions offshore had most boats heading in early this morning but a few toughed it out until the afternoon.

Offshore boats caught some nice sized Wahoo and Dolphin.

Inshore boats had great catches of Red Drum, some Speckled Trout and Flounder releases.

After some rough weather, we've seen a few more boats going out today. Inshore boats brought in nice catches of Speckled Trout and Red Drum, some Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel, and a couple of Black Drum.

Offshore boats had several Wahoo, a Barracuda, and a Blue Marlin release.

Fishing on Thursday was a bit slower offshore than the past few days but still decent, with boats bringing in nice catches of Dolphin, some Grouper varieties, and having a few Sailfish releases.
