Fishing News on Hatteras Island

Surrounded by water and in close proximity to the Gulf Stream, Hatteras Island emanates a life rich in fish culture. Some islanders fish for a living, some islanders fish for fun, some islanders sell fish in their restaurants and some islanders prepare bountiful fish-rich meals for their families. One thing is for sure, the various Hatteras Island fisheries have an impact on those who are blessed to call this place their home and we love sharing them with our friends and neighbors. While the docks are always abuzz with fishing action, sharing with you is exactly what we aim to do. Great day of fishing for offshore boats! Really nice Wahoo, good catches of Mahi, some Blackfin Tuna, King Mackerel, and Barracuda landing on the docks today.

Bottom fishing brought in Grouper, Amberjack, and Tilefish.

The heat and water temps aren’t doing anyone any favors right now but the seas calmed down on Monday and we did see a few nice catches coming in. A couple of offshore boats lucked out with limits of Mahi, others with scattered catches. A few Wahoo and King Mackerel in the mix as well.

Another great day of fishing, and the second and final day of the very brief Red Snapper season.

We saw some really nice Snapper catches, plus Wahoo, scattered Mahi, Tilefish, and Barracuda. Some Sailfish reported as well!

Some nice offshore catches this past week! Mahi, Grouper, Tilefish, Wahoo, Red Snapper, Sailfish, and Tuna!

Not as much offshore activity on Sunday as there was Saturday but we did see a solid mix of offshore, wreck, and inshore catches overall this weekend: scattered Mahi, a few Wahoo, plenty of Amberjack and Triggerfish, some Tilefish, Barracuda, Cobia, Bluefish, and Spanish Mackerel.

Inshore catches were mainly Bluefish and some Spanish Mackerel. We also saw Cobia and King Mackerel a little further out.

Offshore boats had decent catches of Mahi.

Great fishing again today! Offshore we had reports of blue Marlin releases, plus limits Amberjack, and Gray Tilefish. Also Mahi, a few Golden Tile, and Beeliners brought in.

Inshore we saw some nice Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, a Cobia, and a few Sheepshead to round out the day.

Great fishing today! Offshore we had a couple Blue Marlin releases, several Blackfin Tuna, large Gray Tilefish and Golden Tilefish, scattered Mahi and Barracuda.

Inshore boats had good catches of Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish, plus a few Drum.
