Hatteras Fishing Report

Fishing News on Hatteras Island

Surrounded by water and in close proximity to the Gulf Stream, Hatteras Island emanates a life rich in fish culture. Some islanders fish for a living, some islanders fish for fun, some islanders sell fish in their restaurants and some islanders prepare bountiful fish-rich meals for their families. One thing is for sure, the various Hatteras Island fisheries have an impact on those who are blessed to call this place their home and we love sharing them with our friends and neighbors. While the docks are always abuzz with fishing action, sharing with you is exactly what we aim to do. Check out our fishing report below to stay tuned on what's being caught, what they're using to catch them and the fisheries that are ever-changing!

Fishing on the Stormy Petrel II

We’ve been mostly fishing half day charters near shore over the last few days on the Stormy Petrel II. Yesterday we found good Spanish Mackerel fishing up near the lighthouse, but prior to that we were focused on Bluefish out on the shoals or around the inlet. We had one offshore trip last week and trolling was slow that day, so we worked on bottom fishing. Wahoo are around and they should bite better in the weeks to come.

And thats the truth!!!!!!!!  Wahoo, BlackFin Tuna (Bigger and more than I have ever seen for this time of Year)  These are 15 Pound Class Fish that we are used to seeing around April May.  and there were Scattered Dolphin.  That's Pretty Much everything that Swims that you would want to eat this...
